5 October 2026 · 1 min read · Seasonal advice

Healthy feet resting on a soft white towel

Warm weather is wonderful, but it can also bring a few unwelcome surprises like sweaty feet, lingering odours and general discomfort. Hot days and long periods on your feet can lead to unwanted odours and discomfort. These practical tips can help you stay fresh and confident.

How to keep your feet healthy

  • Wash your feet daily with antibacterial soap
  • Dry thoroughly, especially between the toes
  • Gently remove hard skin with a foot file
  • Keep toenails trimmed and clean
  • Use foot powder or antiperspirant to reduce moisture
  • Choose breathable socks and shoes made from natural materials

What to avoid

  • Wearing the same socks or shoes two days in a row
  • Tight-fitting shoes that restrict airflow
  • Damp public areas such as pools or gym showers — wear flip-flops or shower shoes
  • Wearing closed shoes without socks

When to seek medical advice

If foot odour persists despite good hygiene, or if you notice redness, itching, cracked skin or signs of infection, it is important to speak with a healthcare professional. These symptoms may indicate a fungal infection or another condition that requires treatment. Early advice can help prevent complications and support your overall foot health.
